Band Tour of Ireland
DAY 1 (U.S.A./Aloft)
Depart the United States aboard your overnight transAtlantic flight
to Europe. The night will pass quickly, and you will soon be landing
in Shannon.
DAY 2 (ARRIVAL SHANNON - LIMERICK)
Welcome to Shannon! After passing through necessary customs formalities,
you will be met by your Tour Director and transferred Limerick,
Ireland's fourth largest city. Upon arrival in Limerick, you will
be given a walking tour of the historic center, known as King's
Island for its medieval architecture. Following your tour you will
check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 (LIMERICK - KILLARNEY AREA)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. Your first visit today will be Muckross
House and Abbey., a 19th century manor now a museum of Kerry folk-life
with an excellent craft center and lovely gardens. Dinner and overnight
at your hotel in Killarney,
DAY 4 (KILLARNEY - RING OF KERRY FIRST CONCERT)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. Following breakfast you are off
on one of the most beautiful rides you will ever have the enchanting
Ring of Kerry, a circular seaside road which is one of Europe's
finest coastal drives. Your eyes and hearts behold magnificent cliffs,
beautiful lakes, lush vegetation and towns with delightful names
such as Killorglin, Cahirciveen, Parkasilla, Windy Gap and Kenmare.
No where else on earth has nature been so lavish in the contrast
of natural beauty than in the Ring of Kerry. Dinner and overnight
at your hotel in Killarney.
* Your first concert performance will be today in the Killarney
area.
DAY 5 (KILLARNEY - WATERFORD)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. Your morning will include a visit
to Blarney and its Castle, which dates back to 1446. You will climb
onto the Battlements to reach the Blarney Stone, said to impart
to gift of eloquence to all who kiss it. You will also make a stop
at the Blarney Woolen Mills. Following your visit you will continue
to Waterford for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 (WATERFORD - DUBLIN)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. This morning you will have a tour
of the Waterford Crystal Factory prior to traveling to Dublin. Dublin,
the capital of the Republic of Ireland, has one of the loveliest
settings in Europe. Situated at the head of Dublin Bay, the city
is sheltered on the north by the rocky mass of Howth Head and on
the south by residential Dalkey and Thorn Island. The Liffey River
flows through the center of the city and is crossed by many picturesque
bridges. The name Dublin is derived from the Gaelic word for black
pool, dubhlinn. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 7 (DUBLIN SECOND CONCERT)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. You are off this morning on a tour
of Dublin which will include O'Connell Street, with its many fine
statues, Merrion Square, medieval Dublin Castle, Trinity College
with its famous Book of Kells, and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
* Your second concert performance will be today in Dublin.
DAY 8 (DUBLIN - SLIGO)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. This morning you will drive deep
into County Sligo, an area rich in ancient ruins. Along the way
you will stop at Drumcliff to see the church where William Butler
Yeats is buried. Continue on to Sligo for dinner and overnight.
DAY 9 (SLIGO - GALWAY - THIRD CONCERT)
Irish breakfast at your hotel. A very busy day today will begin
with a cruise on the Lough Corrib. Time permitting, you will continue
to the Cliffs of Moher. Stretching for five miles, these awesome
cliffs provide presipitous nesting sites for a variety of seabirds,
including puffins. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
* Your third and final concert will be in the Galway area.
DAY 10 (GALWAY -- SHANNON - USA)
Today you bid farewell to Dublin as your motorcoach transfers you
to the airport for your return flight to the United States, taking
with you so many wonderful memories of your tour of Ireland.
