Music Tour of England and Scotland
DAY 1 (CHICAGO/LONDON)
Depart the United States aboard your overnight trans-Atlantic flight
to Europe. The night will pass quickly and you will soon be landing
in London.
DAY 2 (ARRIVAL LONDON)
Welcome to London! After passing through necessary customs formalities,
you will be met by your Tour Director and transferred to your hotel.
Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 3 (LONDON)
The city of Elizabeth and Charles Dickens, Lord Nelson and Peter
Pan, fills your half-day optional guided sightseeing tour with sights
unlimited. Your route includes Buckingham Palace with the traditional
Changing of the Guard (if held), Marble Arch and Hyde Park, the
Mall, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, St. James Palace, Parliament,
Big Ben, and the major shopping streets. This afternoon you will
perform at the Barbican Center. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 4 (LONDON/BATH)
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will board your motorcoach
for the drive to Bath. Bath is a beautiful wellplanned city with
a wealth of Georgian houses, squares and terraces. Despite recent
construction, Bath maintains a Regency atmosphere. Discovered by
the Romans many centuries ago, Bath is noted for its hot springs.
Upon arrival, you will be given an orientation tour of the city
as well as the Roman Baths. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 5 (BATH/STRATFORD)
Breakfast at your hotel. Today's journey takes us to Shakespeare's
birthplace, StratfordUponAvon. Old Will couldn't have picked a more
perfect town if he'd built it as a stage set himself! You'll visit
Shakespeare's birthplace and the pictureperfect thatched cottage
of Anne Hathaway, his bride, the Holy Trinity Church (which contains
Shakespeare's grave and monument) and the Grammar School where the
Bard was educated. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 6 (STRATFORD/YORK)
After breakfast you will drive north to York. York is one of the
few medieval cities in existence. It is surrounded by its ancient
fortifications, and the curfew bell, on the Tower of St. Michael's
Church, has tolled nightly, with few exceptions since 1066. With
an impressive number of beautiful old churches, York ranks next
to Canterbury in ecclesiastical importance. Upon arrival you will
have a sightseeing tour including the York Minster the largest medieval
cathedral in England. It was built over a period of 250 years and
is notable for its stainedglass windows. Dinner and overnight at
your hotel.
DAY 7 (YORK/EDINBURGH)
Breakfast at your hotel. Today you will travel further north to
Edinburgh. This is the home of Sir Walter Scott, Sir James Barrie,
and Robert Louis Stevenson, and its sights are as wonderful as Treasure
Island, Never-Never Land and all the places these authors imagined.
The Prince of Cities Music Fest has made Edinburgh a famed cultural
center, but its shops, stately homes and polite manner all add to
the city's glory. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 8 (EDINBURGH)
Noble and historic capital of Scotland, you will tour its main
sights this morning. "The Royal Mile" includes Edinburgh
Castle, the medieval fortress perched above the city, John Knox's
house, St. Giles Cathedral and the Palace of Holyrood, all associated
with Mary Queen of Scots. Continue along Princes Street to the Sir
Walter Scott Memorial. You have the afternoon free to do more sightseeing,
relaxing or shopping. Inviting stores along Princes Street offer
you tweeds, woolens and authentic tartans. This evening you will
perform at an Edinburgh High School. Dinner and overnight at your
hotel.
DAY 9 (EDINBURGH/U.S.A.)
Today you bid farewell to Edinburgh, as your motorcoach transfers
you to the airport for your return flight to the United States.
